About the Program

LEARNINGO provides inclusive recreation, leisure, and community programs for children, youth, and young adults. Our afternoon programs run Monday to Friday and focus on creating opportunities for participants to have fun, build connections, explore interests, and participate in their community.

Programs take place at Sackville Sports Stadium, Captain William Spry Community Centre, and Bedford Place Mall.

Position: Afternoon Program Autism Support Worker

As an Autism Support Worker, you’ll provide direct, individualized support while helping participants engage in activities, build relationships, and develop independence. We’re looking for enthusiastic, compassionate individuals who enjoy working with people and want to make a positive impact in an inclusive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide individualized support to promote safety, participation, and inclusion.
- Engage participants in activities, outings, and community experiences.
- Assist Program Leaders with delivering daily programming.
- Support participants in exploring interests, building relationships, and developing independence.
- Foster a positive, welcoming workplace where participants can socialize and thrive.
- Collaborate with team members and assist with program setup and cleanup.
- Participate in swimming activities with participants (required).





Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with children, youth, or young adults in a recreational, educational, community, or support setting.
- Understanding of disability supports and positive behaviour support strategies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow direction in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to respond to crisis situations calmly and effectively; NVCI certification required.
- Adaptability, teamwork, and a willingness to learn.

This flexible, part-time position is ideal for students or professionals looking for 3-15 hours per week, with set shifts and optional on-call opportunities.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

- Do you have direct experience in crisis management, including the use of strategies and practices to prevent, de-escalate, and safely respond to behavioural crises? Do you have NVCI certification?
- Do you have direct experience supporting individuals with Autism and/or diverse support needs in recreation, leisure, or community programs? If so, please provide an example.
- Are you available to work in the Sackville, Spryfield, and/or Bedford areas? If so, please indicate which days of the week you are available. Additionally, please let us know the minimum and maximum number of hours you would ideally like to work each week.
- Do you have a preferred age group to work with: 5-18, 18+, or either?
