Afternoon Shift Production Leader – Project Metal Works

We are looking for an experienced Afternoon Shift Production Leader to join our growing metal manufacturing operation.

This is a hands-on production leadership position for an experienced sheet metal professional who can lead a team, keep production moving, solve problems on the floor, and work alongside employees to achieve daily production targets.

The Production Leader is responsible for owning the afternoon shift and ensuring that safety, quality, productivity, and schedule requirements are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

- Take ownership of the afternoon shift and its production results.
- Lead and coordinate employees to ensure production priorities are understood and achieved.
- Keep production moving and ensure the daily schedule remains on track.
- Monitor workflow and identify bottlenecks, delays, material shortages, equipment issues, and other obstacles affecting production.
- Take immediate action to resolve production issues where possible and communicate significant issues to management.
- Work hands-on alongside employees when required to maintain production flow.
- Assign work according to production priorities, employee skills, and available resources.
- Ensure jobs are completed accurately and according to drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Provide direction, coaching, training, and support to team members.
- Hold employees accountable for attendance, productivity, quality, safety, and following company procedures.
- Ensure secure work practices are followed at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized,

and efficient shop floor.
- Ensure proper communication and handoff between shifts.
- Identify recurring production problems and work with management to develop solutions.
- Complete required production and shift documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and help develop more efficient production processes.

The successful candidate will possess:
- 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in metal manufacturing.
- Strong hands-on experience in the sheet metal industry and production processes.
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings, work instructions, and production requirements.
- Strong understanding of shop-floor workflow and production priorities.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make decisions and take action in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to hold people accountable.
- Ability to work effectively with employees at different skill levels.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to remain calm and focused when production problems arise.
- Willingness and ability to work hands-on alongside the production team.

What We Are Looking For We are looking for a Production Leader, not simply a supervisor.

The right person will lead from the floor.

They will be involved in the work, understand what is happening throughout the shift, recognize problems before they become delays, and take ownership of getting the production schedule completed.

This position requires someone who is comfortable making decisions, solving problems, supporting employees, and holding the team accountable.

You should be the person employees look to when they need direction and the person management can rely on to know what is happening on the shop floor.

Three Core Priorities

- SAFETY

Maintain a safe working environment and ensure employees follow all safety procedures and expectations.
- PRODUCTION

Keep the shop moving and ensure the afternoon shift meets its production schedule, quality requirements, and daily targets.
- TEAM

Lead, coach, support, and hold employees accountable while maintaining a positive, respectful, and productive workplace.

What Success Looks Like A successful Production Leader will:

- Keep the afternoon shift on schedule.
- Identify and address production problems quickly.
- Maintain high-quality standards.
- Minimize downtime and production interruptions.
- Keep employees productive and focused.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop floor.
- Communicate problems and priorities clearly to management.
- Develop employees and improve team performance.
- Take ownership of results rather than waiting for management to solve problems.

If you are an experienced sheet metal professional who enjoys leading from the floor, solving problems, and taking ownership of production, we want to hear from you.
