Job Title: Animal Health Laboratory Technician (Replacement)

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, schedule T.B.D each semester. (35 hours per week)

Reporting to theAssistant Dean, the Animal Health Laboratory Technician assists the teachers in the preparation,presentation, supervision, and evaluation of laboratory work.
More specifically, but not limited to, the Animal Health LaboratoryTechnician completes tasks in the following areas:
- Operates, supervises, and ensures the maintenanceof the Animal Health Technology (AHT) laboratories;
- Sets up lab equipment and prepares laboratories; collects specimens;
- Demonstrates, monitors, instructs, and evaluates the students;
- Cares for animals used in the laboratories according to the CanadianCouncil on Animal Care (CCAC) guidelines;
- Provides guidance to students for the care of animals and themaintenance of the AHT facilities;
- Trains and supervises paid student help and ensures administrativetasks are completed for hiring and payment;
- Assists with the selection of equipment and ensures its proper use;
- Calibrates and maintains equipment, lab tools, and other teaching aidsand arranges for repairs and maintenance;
- Maintains and updates inventory and prepares purchase, work order, andother requisitions;
- Liaises with other college departments and external suppliers;
- Demonstrates and ensures that health and safety practices aremaintained in the laboratories and animal facilities;
- Arranges for animals to be available for student interactions and interventions;
- Works collaborativelywith other Laboratory Technicians and helps train less experienced personnel;
- Participates in departmental and college committees and activities.
Other related tasks which fallwithin the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, schedule to be determinedeach semester (35 hours/week)
Contract : Until October 30, 2026, or until the return of the incumbent to their position, (with the possibility of extension)
