Position Overview
We are seeking an Art Director to provide support with scientific journal management, print design and layout, journal website management, and digital content creation and management for the life sciences sector. Additionally, this role will support our conference division by leading the layout and design of event signage, conference programs and collateral materials, as well as creating targeted LinkedIn content to elevate agency initiatives.
What you’ll be doing
- Print layout – prepare publications for print using provided InDesign templates, and design accessible PDF and print-ready layouts for scientific journals, supplements, reports, and other materials using appropriate desktop publishing software, review peer contributions to ensure accuracy/consistency with corporate templates
- Website management – upload completed issues and articles to journal websites using Open Journal Systems, delegate tasks as required
- Conference materials – design and develop event signage, banners, folders, QR codes, feedback forms (using JotForm) and conference programs, for live or hybrid events
- Social media – use appropriate tools to write, design, schedule, and posting promotional content for LinkedIn
- Reporting – coordinate with team members to track, update, and report on ongoing projects and tasks
- Other duties as assigned
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrated experience designing document layouts for print and digital publication, with attention to legibility and accessibility; the successful candidate should be comfortable making design recommendations to improve digital/print assets
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience related to periodical publishing, print design and layout, scientific communications, digital media, or similar field
- Strong ability with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, and other desktop publishing software
- Excellent attention to detail and writing skills; ability to format scientific references appropriately in line with house style guide
- Comfortable working with basic markup and using predefined styles to apply consistent formatting to text
- Ability to work remotely using the necessary production and graphics editing software, including Microsoft Word, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and others
- Ability to independently create appropriate content for email, social media, and other digital channels
- Experience managing web content using WordPress or other web content management software To apply:
