Apply your expertise in trauma-informed counselling as a Counsellor at Athena's Counselling and Advocacy Centre. This role focuses on empowering women navigating the effects of gender-based violence. You will be pivotal in delivering trauma-informed support to women’s experiences, using an intersectional feminist approach. Engage in both one-on-one counselling and group facilitation while collaborating with community partners to strengthen support networks.
Your role will include providing compassionate service and fostering resilience. Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate therapeutic sessions for individual and group clients
- Assist women in safety and action plan development
- Promote connections with essential community resources
- Address crisis situations with immediate interventions
- Maintain accurate records as per agency policies Requirements:
- 3-5 years of counselling experience with survivors
- Relevant degree/diploma in social work is preferred
- Current First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certifications
- In-depth knowledge of gender-based violence issues
