The Role
As a member of our Portfolio Strategist team within National Sales and Investment Solutions at IGM, you will help IG Wealth Advisors deliver timely, consistent and high-quality support for client and business development opportunities. The Associate Portfolio Strategist leverages the established Portfolio Strategist service model to prepare portfolio analysis, advisor and client materials, product research and workflow coordination.
Working closely with experienced Portfolio Strategists and partners across National Sales and Business Development, this role supports high-net-worth client opportunities, existing client reviews, prospective advisor discussions, recruiting activities and time-sensitive service needs. The role also contributes to process consistency, scalability, AI enablement and the development of future talent within the Portfolio Strategist function, while escalating complex client, securities, suitability or investment recommendation matters as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct current-state portfolio reviews and diagnostics for advisors and clients who hold investment products, including cases that may not require a full high-net-worth acquisition-oriented engagement.
- Prepare and consolidate portfolio analysis, book reviews, transferability assessments, and product information in collaboration with National Sales and Business Development partners.
- Support advisor and client conversations, prospective advisor discussions, recruiting opportunities and business development activities with relevant analysis and materials.
- Support urgent trading and related analysis,
including execution of orders for high-net-worth clients requiring same-day or expedited support, within applicable licensing, supervisory and escalation requirements.
- Complete less complex analyses using the established Portfolio Strategist framework, enabling senior team members to focus on higher-value clients, advisors and acquisition opportunities.
- Prepare advisor and client materials, summaries, presentations and supporting analysis for Wholesaling team members and client engagement opportunities.
- Conduct product, competitive and third-party investment research to support portfolio discussions, advisor needs and internal decision-making.
- Coordinate workflow intake, prioritization, tracking and follow-up to support timely delivery and consistency across the Portfolio Strategist service model.
- Identify opportunities to adopt AI-enabled tools, improve process consistency, and scale repeatable portfolio analysis and preparation activities.
- Partner with Portfolio Strategists, securities research, advisor onboarding and wholesaling teams to support service delivery and build bench strength within the function.
- Escalate complex client, securities, suitability or investment recommendation matters to experienced Portfolio Strategists and appropriate partners.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business, finance, economics, commerce or a related discipline.
- Bilingualism French and English is required to support team members and partners within and/or outside the province of Quebec.
- Experience in investment services, portfolio analysis, product support, advisor support, wealth management or a related financial services environment.
- Investment industry credentials and willingness to obtain the designations and licensing required for the role.
- Strong analytical orientation, curiosity, sound judgment, coachability and a client-first mindset.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint capability, with comfort using portfolio analysis tools and preparing advisor and client-facing materials.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with advisors, internal partners, Portfolio Strategists, wholesalers and business development teams.
- Ability to manage workflow, prioritize requests and identify process improvements, including opportunities to adopt AI-enabled tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional investment, portfolio management or financial planning coursework.
- Experience supporting advisors, high-net-worth client needs, investment product research,
competitive analysis or portfolio review activities.
- Securities licensing, CFA, CIM, CFP or other relevant investment or wealth management credentials.
Knowledge of French and English is required to support clients and Team members within and/ or outside the province of Quebec.
The expected annual base salary range for this role is $77,500 - $108,000, which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive, health and well-being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.
