We’re hiring an Associate Producer to join our video distribution team. The role is essential in ensuring our best-of visual journalism is reaching the widest available audience possible at home and around the world. You work closely with other producers and do the hands-on work to package and deliver video content to internal and external clients.
You’re a first-rate news writer and video editor with proven abilities as a visual storyteller. You are a strong journalist, well-versed in packaging, transcoding and distributing video content across multiple formats. That includes digital platforms, linear channels and newscasts as well as third-party platforms and clients.
You keep apprised of changing video storytelling techniques, tools, styles and emerging technologies. You are open to exploring new ways of creating content that is distinctive and cutting-edge. You know what’s making news and are able to pivot quickly to turn live breaking news into on-demand video to share.
Identify and make available visual storytelling opportunities for distribution across CBC News and external media clients in consultation with a producer. Track and respond to requests and deliver video content when available to syndication partners such as EBU (European Broadcasting Union), NBC, CNN and others via our internal management system.
Cut, transcode and distribute video from material shot by CBC colleagues, or from CBC News Network, our 24/7 live and breaking news channel, ensuring adherence to quality standards including required metadata.
Assist in maintaining outlooks and updating a menu of available video for clients to choose from. Ensure that CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the audiences we serve. At least two years of recent experience in the news industry related to video content.
Experience with content management systems such as 9CMS, Media Central, iNews, including ability to edit and publish within those platforms Experience using production programming tools, such as Avid, iNews, to search line-ups and build outlooks. Knowledge of video storytelling, and related skills such as writing banners and editing. Knowledge and understanding of national and international news.
