The salary range for this position is CAD $44.85/Hr.
- CAD $56.02/Hr. Come work as an Anesthesia Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at Vancouver General Hospital! Practices within the context of a patient/client and family‑centred framework and continuum‑based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization. Provides technical support and clinical assistance with induction, maintenance and recovery phases of anesthesia by working both under the direct clinical supervision of the Anesthesiologist and as a member of an integrated surgical team. Assists the Anesthesiologist in developing and implementing the anesthesia care plan and monitors physiological responses of patients to the induction of anesthesia during surgery. Demonstrates continuous improvement and best practice approach in anesthesiology assistant practice. Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned. About the Vancouver General Hospital Anesthesia Department The largest hospital in BC, equipped with 24 Operating Rooms (OR), VGH plays a pivotal role in healthcare. AAs expertise spans specialized areas including Cardiac anesthesia, Thoracic anesthesia, Regional Anesthesia, Orthopedic, ENT, Gynecology, Vascular, General Surgery, Transplant and trauma. Out‑of‑OR services include vital procedures in the Cath lab, Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy, MRI, and Bronchoscopy, showcasing a commitment to comprehensive and advanced healthcare. Graduation from a recognized Anesthesia Assistant Program plus current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Comprehensive knowledge of current anesthesia assistant theory and practice within a client/family centered model for care. Broad knowledge of the CAS clinical practice guidelines for Anesthesia Assistants. Demonstrated ability to use departmental and hospital policy and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to communicate with and deal effectively with clients and their families, co‑workers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of outside agencies. Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques. Demonstrated skill in the use of medical equipment and supplies appropriate to the clinical area. Demonstrated skill in techniques appropriate to the clinical area. Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use a computerized patient care information system. Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly‑funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for the offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
