About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Automation Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of our robotic and automated manufacturing systems. Your primary focus will be ensuring the seamless functioning of robotic cells, vision systems, and controls infrastructure to optimize production processes.
You will collaborate closely with our Automation Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production teams to uphold safety standards, improve equipment reliability, and contribute to our operational excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a quick-paced manufacturing setting, utilizing your technical skills to drive innovation and efficiency across our facilities.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in automation, mechatronics, robotics, electrical engineering technology, or related fields. Proven experience in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated manufacturing equipment is essential. Familiarity with industrial robots, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, machine vision systems, and electrical control systems is required.
Candidates should have the ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings accurately.
Experience with EPSON and Universal robots is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Strong communication and teamwork abilities are vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain robotic cells, automation equipment, vision systems, and controls infrastructure to maximize equipment uptime, reliability, and performance.
- Perform reactive troubleshooting of robotic, electrical, controls, and automation-related issues during production and escalate problems when necessary.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities on robots, tooling, vision systems, sensors, PLCs, electrical panels, and related automation equipment, maintaining accurate records of work performed.
- Assist in the assembly, integration, testing, commissioning, and deployment of new and existing automation systems.
- Perform robot reteaching, calibration, recovery procedures, and tooling adjustments to ensure process quality and equipment performance.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize machine vision systems, including camera alignment, lighting adjustments, and inspection parameters.
- Collaborate with the Automation Engineering team to enhance equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls systems such as PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, safety circuits, sensors, and communication networks.
- Manage spare parts inventory by identifying critical components, supporting procurement, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Maintain comprehensive equipment documentation, software backups, recovery procedures, and post-deployment support packages.
- Provide technical support to production teams as needed, ensuring smooth operation and quick recovery of automated equipment.
