Description: This course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE) in biological sciences will introduce students to the process of scientific inquiry as they engage in a hypothesis-driven research project with an emphasis on student-driven discovery, critical thinking, and collaboration. Students will learn to effectively access, interpret, and reference scientific literature as they formulate their research question and create an experimental design. Students will gain hands-on experience in research techniques and apply concepts in research ethics, reproducibility, and quantitative analyses to collect and interpret data.

Minimum Qualifications: Includes: ability, academic qualifications, suitability for the position and appropriate background in the subject/specialty. Robust background and previous lab experience working with drosophila and/or plant model organisms.
Preferred Qualifications: Multiple courses completed as an undergraduate student or graduate student in the subject area, specifically included a minimum of one laboratory.
Duties: Duties: Duties for the position may vary and include: preparation for classes, setting up and demonstrating labs in person, grading,
leading class discussions, and sharing research perspectives and career experiences. Specific duties are defined in the Description of Duties and Allocation of Hours form by the instructor in charge of the course. Please note duties for this position are performed in person at the UTSC campus.
This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. It is understood that some announcements of vacancies are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment.
Salary: $55.25/hour, plus 4% vacation pay. Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
