Become a Biology Laboratory Instructor with the University of Waterloo, responsible for teaching and developing courses in the BioMedical Science Program. Engage students in practical lab experiences while ensuring high academic standards. This position is a contractual role for two years, primarily focused on the new BioMedical Science program set to launch in Fall 2026.
The instructor will oversee laboratory courses, both standalone and combined with lectures, creating engaging experiments and developing comprehensive course materials. You will play a vital role in maintaining safety standards and facilitating an effective learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and instruct laboratory courses independently
- Develop and write laboratory experiments and manuals
- Create assignments, quizzes, midterms, and final exams
- Oversee TAs and ensure academic integrity
- Maintain a safe laboratory environment following regulations
Requirements:
- PhD in Biology
- At least 2 years teaching experience required
- Strong background in anatomy, cell biology, and microbiology
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience with lab safety and emergency procedures
