Reporting to the Manager, Capital Delivery and Facility Assets, the Building Life Systems Compliance Coordinator coordinates, administers, schedules, and maintains records for inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs of building life safety systems and equipment across City facilities. This role supports compliance with the Ontario Fire Code and other applicable legislative requirements, standards, and internal procedures. The position also supports the review, optimization, and integration of compliance programs within the City’s Enterprise Asset Management system to ensure inspection, testing, maintenance, and record-keeping activities are tracked, documented, retained, and readily accessible.

Maintain inventories of legislated fire and life safety maintenance tasks in accordance with approved regulatory references, standards, and internal guidance. Review contractor-submitted reports for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with documented requirements, escalating discrepancies as required. Configure and maintain Enterprise Asset Management records, work orders, schedules, and documentation libraries related to legislated maintenance.





Coordinate inspection, testing, and maintenance schedules to align with prescribed frequencies and Ontario Fire Code requirements. Collaborate with departments to ensure spaces are accessible for testing and inspections, and track deficiencies through to closure. Support standardized workflows and reporting structures for audit and compliance tracking, including procedural training and guidance to staff.

Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and summaries reflecting compliance status, outstanding items, and trends. Prepare ad hoc reports for management and directors related to Fire Code compliance across City facilities and buildings. Post-secondary diploma in Facilities Management, Building Systems Technology, Property Management, Building Maintenance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Three to five years of experience in building maintenance coordination, legislated or regulated maintenance tracking, asset management, or preventative maintenance programs. Working knowledge of fire and life safety maintenance requirements, applicable standards, and the Ontario Fire Code.

Experience using Enterprise Asset Management systems such as Lucity, Maximo, or SAP PM for maintenance and compliance tracking. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint.



Power BI experience and knowledge is preferred.

Effective communication, collaboration, customer service, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow established procedures, identify risks, escalating issues appropriately, and work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Valid Ontario

Class “G” driver’s licence with a good driving record and access to a reliable vehicle for corporate business. Meets or exceeds service standards when interacting with customers in the community and in the organization.
