Business Analyst

Location : Montreal, QC - Hybrid The Opportunity

Strategio is expanding its Enterprise Financial Services Practice and supporting a major transformation initiative for one of Canada’s largest investment management firms. This organization oversees hundreds of billions in AUM.

You will support the planning, implementation, and optimization of business-critical platforms on an enterprise data management platform in the financial services sector. This high-impact role sits at the intersection of data, business logic, and user needs between investment business units (operations, accounting, risk, performance) and IT. You'll act as a translator between business stakeholders and IT teams, writing functional interface specifications, translating business needs into backlog items and technical specs, and contributing to release management and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You:

You are a proactive, bilingual (French/English) problem-solver with at least 7+ years of deep experience in functional and business analysis within buy-side or custody investment/financial application environments. You're motivated by complex challenges, naturally inquisitive, and confident working across technical, functional, and financial domains.

You possess hands-on SQL proficiency to open databases and investigate data issues directly, communicate with clarity, and own the full test lifecycle (regression, SIT, UAT).

As a Strategio Business Analyst you will:

- Liaise between investment business units (operations, accounting, risk, performance) and IT teams to translate requirements into actionable specifications and backlog items.




- Analyze, maintain, and support operational and analytical enterprise data management platforms.
- Lead problem analysis and propose effective, scalable solutions by investigating data issues directly via hands-on SQL queries.
- Author functional interface specifications and define technical requirements.
- Own and participate in all stages of the test lifecycle, including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and regression testing.
- Contribute to release management, incident management, and continuous improvement contexts.

Core Skills

- 7+ years functional/business analysis in investment/financial application environments (buy-side or custody only).
- Mandatory experience with SimCorp or a comparable investment platform (e.g., SimCorp Dimension, BlackRock Aladdin, Charles River, Bloomberg AIM, SS&C;).
- Hands-on SQL proficiency for deep data analysis, mining, and self-directed database investigation.
- Fully bilingual in French and English (oral and written).
- Complete test lifecycle ownership (regression, SIT, UAT).

Nice-to-Haves:

- MarkitEDM (Markit EDM, IHS Markit EDM, Cadis, S&P; Global EDM).
- Enterprise data management platforms (GoldenSource, Eagle PACE, Semarchy XDM).




- XML/XSLT/JSON messaging formats.
- Microsoft SQL Server and Windows environments.
- Cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Azure, Visual Studio).
- Market data vendors (Bloomberg, Rimes, Six Telekurs, ICE).
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Financial certifications such as CFA or FRM.
