The Role

We are hiring two Business Data Stewards to join a young, growing data governance function inside a business analytics team. The organization is mid-flight on two major data programs — migrating its enterprise data warehouse from Redshift to Snowflake, and a multi-year modernization replacing its legacy core contract system — with an Informatica data governance platform implementation landing this fall. One steward will anchor the modernization's data workstream; the other will anchor the new data platform build.

Both roles are backfills into a team with a proven promotion track: the last person in one of these seats was just promoted to supervisor and will help coach the recent hires.

What You'll Do

- Map data between a legacy host system and its modern replacement — often at field level where documentation is thin or missing: investigate, profile the data, connect related fields, and confirm definitions and calculations with business and technical stakeholders.
- Build and maintain the data catalog; capture data lineage and transformation logic as new cloud data pipelines and data models come online.
- Define and document data definitions, glossary terms, business rules, and data classifications — including tagging PII and sensitive fields and validating that masking and security controls are properly applied.
- Own the data quality issue lifecycle: log issues in the repository, investigate root cause, define proactive and reactive DQ rules,



and follow up with stakeholders to resolution.
- Onboard to the new Informatica platform as it goes live — testing, knowledge-transfer sessions with the integration partner, then applying it daily: building your catalog in the tool and creating data quality score dashboards.
- Contribute to department SOPs and annual policy reviews, audit remediation actions, and continuous-improvement projects.
- Promote data literacy — help business users understand what the data means so they can self-serve with confidence.

What You Bring

- 2–3+ years of hands-on experience in data governance, data quality, metadata management, and/or master data management.
- Intermediate or better SQL, used for real data profiling — field-level analysis, deriving meaning and interdependencies. (Shortlisted candidates complete a SQL assessment.)
- Experience with a data governance tool — Informatica, Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, or similar. Informatica coursework or certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with data platforms and pipelines (Snowflake, Redshift, or comparable) is an asset; Python for data profiling is an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or similar).
- An investigative mindset — comfortable digging into a 30-year-old, under-documented field and making sense of it.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills across business and technical audiences.
- A genuine appetite to learn and upskill — this team explicitly values proactive self-development, and provides training and coaching to match.
- Bonus: data stewardship experience in financial services — lending, leasing, or consumer finance data domains.
