FortisBC has an exciting prospect for an independent contractor to join our gas Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project team. The gas AMI Project is currently progressing through our deployment phase with a projected completion date of Q1 2028.
Position Summary
We are seeking a contracted Business Process & Transformation Consultant to support our business transformation initiatives in support of FortisBC's gas AMI project. This role serves as a strategic partner to business and project leaders, leading process analysis, potential future-state design to ensure the successful adoption of new technologies, processes, and ways of working.
Working across multiple project workstreams, the Business Process & Transformation Consultant translates business needs into practical solutions, facilitates alignment among diverse stakeholder groups, and supports the realization of operational and customer benefits associated with advanced meter deployment and modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead current-state and future-state business process mapping and analysis across impacted business areas.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and support the design of efficient, scalable operating models.
- Partner with business, and project teams to define and document business requirements and transformation priorities.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops, requirements sessions, and process design activities.
- Build strong relationships with leaders and subject matter experts to drive alignment and informed decision-making.
- Recognize business impacts, risks, and dependencies associated with new processes.
- Support business readiness, change adoption, and transition planning activities.
- Develop presentations, recommendations, and decision-support materials.
- Establish and maintain process documentation, business requirements, and transformation roadmaps.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, and/or business transformation.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or another related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading process mapping, business process redesign, and organizational change initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and influencing skills.
- Experience working in large, complex transformation programs.
- Ability to translate business challenges into practical, actionable solutions.
- Excellent analytical, oral communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Utility, energy, AMI, or regulated industry experience is considered an asset.
Additional information
- Reports to the Planning & Governance Project Director, AMI and is accountable to the Senior Project Manager, AMI for the business transformation initiatives,
- Fully remote position with some travel requirements to some FortisBC offices.
- 12-month contract up to 40 hours per week as needed.
