Aircraft Development and Production

Position Summary

GPSI is seeking a full-time Buyer to support the procurement of aircraft parts, raw materials, tooling and external services required for the development, first-flight and production phases of its aircraft program.

Working closely with suppliers and Engineering, Methods, Production, Quality, Finance and Program Management teams, the Junior Buyer will help ensure that materials and components are ordered and delivered on time, at the required quality and at a competitive cost. This hands-on role is suited to an organized and motivated candidate who wants to build a career in procurement and supply-chain management. Coaching and guidance will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

- Purchase aircraft parts, raw materials, hardware, tooling and services based on engineering requirements and the manufacturing schedule.
- Prepare requests for quotation, compare supplier proposals and support supplier-selection decisions.
- Create and maintain purchase orders, ensuring that pricing, quantities, delivery dates and applicable requirements are accurate.
- Follow up regularly with suppliers, obtain order confirmations and monitor delivery commitments.
- Expedite critical materials and components to protect aircraft assembly, testing and first-flight milestones.
- Maintain accurate purchasing trackers and provide clear visibility on open orders, expected deliveries, shortages and supply risks.
- Work with Engineering and Methods to understand bills of materials, drawings, specifications, revisions and evolving technical requirements.
- Coordinate supplier questions and help resolve delivery, documentation, invoice and quality issues with internal teams.
- Identify long-lead and schedule-critical items, communicate risks promptly and support recovery plans.
- Participate in material-readiness, production-planning and program-review meetings.




- Build effective supplier relationships and monitor delivery, responsiveness, cost and quality performance.
- Support cost-reduction, alternate-sourcing and supply-risk mitigation initiatives.
- Help transition procurement from prototype and first-flight needs to a stable and scalable production supply chain.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, preferably in Operations and Production Management, Supply Chain Management, Procurement or a related field. Relevant college training or equivalent experience will also be considered.
- two to five years of relevant experience in purchasing, supply chain, production planning, logistics or manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to organize and analyze purchasing information.
- Bilingual in English and French, both written and spoken.
- Robust organizational skills, attention to detail and consistent follow-up.
- Good communication, listening, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage several priorities in a fast-moving environment where requirements may evolve.
- Strong willingness to learn and collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
- Basic financial and commercial understanding; knowledge of contracts and negotiations is an asset.

Assets
- Experience through employment, internship or academic projects in aerospace, automotive, advanced manufacturing or another technical industry.
- Exposure to bills of materials, technical drawings, manufacturing schedules, ERP or MRP systems.
- Familiarity with supplier quotations, purchase orders, inventory management, aerospace quality or traceability requirements.
