Convergint is currently recruiting for a Supply Chain Specialist to join our growing team in our Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray or Vancouver locations. As the Supply Chain Specialist, you will provide support to effectively purchase product, supplies and equipment based on price, service, quality and warranty to ensure uninterrupted and timely supply of product to the Convergint Technology Centre warehouses Canada wide. This role has an emphasis on timely generation of documentation in support of the Convergint Technologies Materials Management Program and motivation in building effective business relationships with vendors and customers alike.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience” Examine, select, order, and purchase goods and services at optimal cost consistent with specification requirements, and other factors in both project and service-based scenarios within purchasing authority. Consult with functional teams such as project managers, service coordinators, sales, operations, finance, and engineering/estimating to obtain relevant data and business intelligence.

Analyze and choose the best modes of transportation for international and domestic shipments and assist with scheduling and coordinating shipments from suppliers to CTCs or CTC to CTC. Interact with suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors on an on-going basis,



which may include negotiating prices, discounts, credit terms, and logistics. Support reverse logistics processes by working with administrators to authorize payment of invoices or return of material.

Negotiate and arrange transport of goods with shipping or freight companies, and quote fare and rates for all shipment modes. Track product flow from origin to final delivery point. Trace lost or missing shipments and work with carriers/suppliers to initiate and complete freight claim processes.

Expedite and follow up with suppliers to schedule deliveries, resolve material/value discrepancies, outstanding and overdue delivery of materials, warranty claims, damages, and return of materials. Collect and organize information from a variety of sources to present options regarding material and logistics to internal stakeholders to demonstrate sound decision making. Apply analytic methods or tools to understand, predict, or control supply chain operations or processes, such as data mining, data modelling, or cost/benefit analysis.

Interpret data on logistics, availability, maintainability, reliability, transportation, and other supply chain focus areas. Collaborate and communicate knowledge (e.g. market information, customer insights, trends, etc.) Maintain product, service, and technical knowledge and apply new knowledge to management tasks for the improvement of customer service activities. Conduct logistics studies and apply logistics modeling techniques to address issues such as operational process improvement.

Review and assess risk to supply and demand variability and identify opportunities to manage and mitigate risk. Gather and present data involving customer service, forecasting, procurement, manufacturing, inventory, transportation,



and warehousing to Managers and Supervisors. Support inventory processes by utilizing inventory whenever possible, and support minimizing the cost of inventory at all times.

Support with the preparation of import/export requirements for shipping and import of international and cross border shipping. Provide strategic supply chain solutions for internal stakeholders using global trade management knowledge. Prepare and maintain purchasing records, reports, and price lists.

Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service. Executes all work in accordance with Provincial, local regulations, general best practices as well as company health and safety policies and procedures. Keeps up to date and informed on all company products, services and policies.

Good customer service skills Good Excel and Word software skills Good proficiency in financial software specifically related to purchase order entry and accounts payable and inventory management. Good financial knowledge and skills—ability to understand basic financials such as accounts receivable/payable, purchase orders, work orders, etc. Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects tasks simultaneously.

Valuable ability to facilitate a collaborative working environment for customers and team members Diploma and/or certificate in Business Administration or Purchasing or related experience preferred. SCMP designation an asset. Minimum of 2-4 years of previous purchasing/buyer experience is required Minimum of two years freight forwarding and logistics working experience preferred.

Minimum of two years customer service experience is preferred.
