We are seeking an experienced 3D CAD Designer with strong Autodesk Inventor skills and hands-on piping layout experience to join a growing water and wastewater treatment design and fabrication team.

This role supports the development of custom-engineered water and wastewater treatment systems by creating detailed 3D models, piping layouts, assemblies, equipment arrangements, fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings, and Bills of Materials. Working closely with engineering, production, project management, consultants, clients, and vendors, the 3D CAD Designer plays an important role in ensuring designs are practical, buildable, accurately documented, and aligned with project requirements.

The organization specializes in the design and fabrication of customized water and wastewater treatment solutions serving a diverse range of communities and applications. Systems are engineered to meet specific client requirements and designed for dependable performance, including in challenging operating environments.

This is an opportunity to contribute to projects that have a meaningful impact on environmental protection, infrastructure, and access to reliable water treatment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, erection drawings, general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, and detail drawings for manufacturing and customer documentation.
- Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials, drawing packages, and project documentation to support procurement, fabrication, assembly, and installation.
- Draft and update PFDs, P&IDs;, piping layouts, pipe routing, supports, skid layouts, tanks, frames, valves, fittings, spools, and equipment arrangements as required.
- Develop piping layouts that account for constructability, accessibility, maintenance clearances, flange connections, pipe supports, valves, instruments, and coordination with pumps, tanks, skids, and treatment equipment.
- Incorporate engineering markups, redlines, field measurements, vendor information, and design changes into controlled drawing revisions.

Coordination & Integration

- Coordinate 3D models and drawings with mechanical, process, electrical, instrumentation, controls, engineering consultants, client representatives, vendors, and production teams.
- Work closely with fabrication and assembly teams to support manufacturable designs, explicit shop packages, and practical installation details.
- Support consultant and client reviews by updating drawings, coordinating comments, and helping resolve interdisciplinary design issues.
- Participate as a project team member under the direction of the Project Manager or Project Engineer.

Drawing Standards, Quality & Documentation
- Maintain drawing accuracy, consistency, revision control, file organization, and adherence to CAD standards and templates.
- Check dimensions, fit-up, clearances, interfaces, and drawing completeness before release to engineering, procurement, fabrication, or clients.
- Support the continuous improvement of CAD standards, drawing templates, checklists, and documentation practices.

Materials, Procurement & Fabrication Support
- Support the selection and documentation of materials, components, fittings, equipment, and fabrication details appropriate for each application and operating environment.
- Assist with sourcing information, vendor drawings, cut sheets, and technical data required to complete accurate models and drawing packages.

- Coordinate piping materials, fittings, valves, supports, and vendor-supplied equipment information to ensure pipe routes, connections, and fabrication details are accurately reflected in models and drawings.
- Support estimating, change orders, and project planning by preparing drawing takeoffs, BOM updates, and design documentation as required.

Project & Field Support
- Assist with project schedules, drafting priorities,

drawing deliverables, and technical risk identification from a design documentation perspective.
- Support factory acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting by providing drawing updates and technical clarification as required.
- Travel to customer sites may be required to gather measurements, support installation, review field conditions, or participate in client-facing technical discussions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

- Experience preparing fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, PFDs, P&IDs;, and BOMs.
- Demonstrated experience with piping design, piping layouts, pipe supports, valves, fittings, spools, and equipment tie-ins in an industrial, fabrication, or process equipment environment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, sketches, redlines, vendor data, field measurements, and technical documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturable design, fabrication methods, shop-floor requirements, and installation constraints.
- Comfortable working directly with engineers, consultants, vendors, production, and shop-floor teams.
