Plans, directs, coordinates, and controls activities related to custom-designed manufacturing projects to ensure goals and objectives are achieved within established timelines and budget parameters.
Prepares shop drawings for the fabrication and installation of custom architectural millwork.
The Architectural Millwork Drafter is responsible for planning and preparing custom shop drawings for manufacturing and installation. The incumbent works closely with the project team to ensure project objectives are achieved within established timelines and cost parameters while maintaining JSI's quality standards.
Functional Responsibilities
- Attend virtual meetings for training, project reviews, and information transfer.
- Prepare shop drawings that align with the design intent, JSI standards, project budgets, and established parameters.
- Review all elements affecting the scope of work, including plumbing, electrical, and other building systems, to ensure proper coordination.
- Create 2D drawings using AutoCAD and 3D models using Inventor, when required.
- Prepare and organize drawing packages in accordance with JSI standards.
- Revise drawings based on internal reviews, redline markups,
and client feedback.
- Collaborate with the in-house team to share knowledge, implement best practices, and ensure project success.
- Research specialty hardware, plumbing fixtures, appliances, and other project-specific components to ensure proper integration into the shop drawings.
- Ensure all work meets JSI quality standards and drafting requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
Qualifications & Skills
- University degree or college diploma in Commercial Drafting or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in architectural drafting and/or millwork engineering.
- Experience drafting custom architectural millwork is required.
- Excellent ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
- Robust ability to read specifications and quotations.
- Knowledge of wood, plastics, metals, glass, hardware, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Expert knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of Inventor is considered an asset.
