The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is now inviting applications for the following full-time position based out of Hall Lake, SK: Child Advocate Worker (2) The Family Advocate Worker, reporting to the Prevention Coordinator, supports in a service as a prime liaison in promoting child safety, family unity, and community well-being within Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) communities. This position involves implementing prevention initiatives, providing family support services, and collaborating with external agencies to ensure comprehensive care for families and children in need. Classes, Workshops and Training to improve Family preservation and well being.
Culture and Recreational activities that support Children and Families at risk. Organize resources and programs to help high risk Families. Cultural and recreational activities for Children and Youth at risk.
Immediate or Intensive crisis intervention. Document and notify Child Protection matters using a “Referral form to CFS”. Intervention services for mental health and addictions counselling and treatment for family, parents and youth.
Degree in Social Work, or a related field. ~2 years -Experience working in Indigenous communities,
culture sensitivity and knowledge of First Nations culture. ~ Knowledge of child protection legislation, policies, and best practices. ~ Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail require. ~ Ability to work under minimal supervision. ~ Must be able to work flexible hours. ~ Valid Class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle. ~ Eligible to obtain a qualified registration and regulatory body. ~ Ability to speak and understand Cree is an asset. ~ Provide a satisfactory and recent criminal record and vulnerable sector check and SGI drivers abstract.
