Child and Family Support Worker- Peel Region VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) is one of the largest not-for-profit home care providers in Ontario. We provide high quality, client-centred care to those who need it most in their homes, schools, retirement homes and other community settings. VHA's Child and Family Support Worker (CFSW) is responsible for providing child care and home support to families caring for children from birth to 4 years, and recovering from a medical and/or crisis situation.

They provide emotional support and guidance to parents dealing with mental health issues (e.g., postpartum depression). The CFSW helps families with concrete childcare and home supports activities including light housekeeping and child care ADL’s. Provides care to children age 0-4 years old with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).

Provides physical and emotional support to parents recovering from medical health conditions in carrying out normal household routines and ADLs (such as light cleaning and laundry, child care). Provides food planning and preparation, if needed. Provides a range of infant care activities (bathing, diaper changes, infant stimulation).

May teach and demonstrate caring activities to help parents learn to perform them independently.



Provides teaching and mentoring to first-time parents in caring for newborns and/or those with special needs. Provides emotional support and guidance in caring for multiple newborns (e.g., 2 years’ experience in childcare and/or internationally trained experience, and/or ~ Early Childhood Education Certificate/Diploma, Childcare Assistant, Mothercraft Childcare Certificate, Midwife, PSW Certificate recognized by the relevant ministry, or internationally trained Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse, Midwife or Physician, or equivalent. ~ First Aid/CPR Certificate is an asset. ~ At least 1 year of experience working in the community. ~ Experience with mental health issues (e.g., postpartum depression) is an asset. ~ Experience working with children with special needs (e.g., Autism). ~ Perks and pension plan for permanent eligible employees Comprehensive orientation and ongoing training Mentorship and peer support Employee and family assistance program We champion inclusion and diversity in all parts of our organization and review all applicants with fair and unbiased recruitment practices.
