Our portfolio includes commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities, where precision coordination, technical knowledge, and disciplined project execution are essential to successful project delivery.

We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern to support the Project Manager and project team on medium and large-scale interior construction and buildout projects.

Role Summary The Civil Engineering Intern will work directly under the Project Manager, providing support with project coordination, procurement, scheduling, cost tracking, documentation, site coordination, and contract administration.

This is a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience in construction project management while working closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.

Primary Duties

Project Coordination & Planning

- Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day coordination of assigned construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to understand project requirements.
- Assist with identifying scope gaps, coordination issues, and potential project risks.
- Support preparation and maintenance of project schedules and procurement timelines.
- Assist with project execution planning, sequencing, and logistics coordination.
- Maintain project action-item lists and follow up on outstanding requirements.

Subcontractor Procurement & Trade Coordination

- Assist with preparing subcontractor bid packages and scopes of work.
- Solicit and organize subcontractor and supplier quotations as directed by the Project Manager.
- Assist with reviewing quotations and preparing bid comparison/leveling sheets.
- Support subcontractor scope coordination and clarification.
- Assist with tracking subcontractor procurement, contract documentation, insurance, and other compliance requirements.
- Track long-lead materials and procurement requirements.

Budget & Cost Control





- Assist the Project Manager with maintaining project budgets and cost tracking.
- Track committed costs, purchase orders, subcontract values, and project expenditures.
- Assist with reviewing subcontractor invoices and progress claims.
- Track potential change events and assist with change order documentation.
- Assist in preparing monthly cost reports and project financial summaries.

Schedule & Site Coordination

- Work closely with the Project Manager and Site Supervisor to track project progress.
- Update schedule information and identify potential delays or coordination issues.
- Assist with coordinating trade sequencing and outstanding site requirements.
- Participate in site visits to document progress and assist with project coordination.
- Maintain logs for deficiencies, inspections, deliveries, and outstanding work.

Contract Administration & Documentation

- Assist with managing RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and consultant responses.
- Maintain organized project files and document control systems.
- Assist with preparing meeting agendas, minutes, and action-item tracking.
- Support preparation of owner and consultant progress meeting materials.
- Assist with monthly project reporting and project status updates.
- Support project closeout activities, including deficiencies, O&M; manuals, warranties, and other closeout documentation.

Quality & Risk Support

- Assist the Project Manager and Site Supervisor in monitoring work against drawings and specifications.
- Help identify technical coordination issues and escalate them to the Project Manager.
- Assist with tracking inspections, testing, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
- Support project documentation related to quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Client & Stakeholder Coordination

- Assist the Project Manager with communication and coordination between the owner, consultants, subcontractors, and site team.




- Prepare and organize information required for project meetings and reporting.
- Follow up on assigned action items and outstanding consultant or subcontractor responses.
- Maintain professional communication with project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related engineering program.
- Strong interest in commercial construction and project management.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Valid driver's license is an asset.

Reporting Structure The Civil Engineering Intern will report directly to the Project Manager and will work closely with the Site Supervisor, subcontractors, consultants, and project team. The intern will be responsible for assigned coordination and administrative tasks while all project decisions, approvals, contractual matters, and financial commitments remain under the direction and approval of the Project Manager.
