Role Description:

The Claims & OS&D; Specialist is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada.

This role is responsible for managing freight claims and overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D;) from initial notification through resolution, ensuring accurate documentation, timely investigation, and fair settlement. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing shipment records, coordinating with terminals and drivers, communicating with customers and carriers, and working with insurance partners to process claims efficiently. The specialist monitors claim trends, identifies root causes, and collaborates with operations teams to reduce recurring issues and improve service quality.

The role also involves maintaining detailed records, preparing reports for internal stakeholders, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in claims handling and cargo damage prevention.

Qualifications:

- 3+ years of experience in freight logistics, or transportation operations (OS&D; experience is must)
- Strong Knowledge of transportation documentation such as BOLs, PODs,



and carrier freight claims.
- Strong claims management and claims handling skills, with experience investigating, documenting, and resolving freight or insurance claims.
- Analytical skills to review shipment data, identify patterns, determine root causes, and recommend process improvements.
- Knowledge of insurance principles and practices related to cargo liability, coverage, and claim settlements.
- Explicit, professional communication skills for interacting with customers, carriers, internal teams, and insurance representatives.
- High attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency with office and logistics systems (e.g., TMS, Excel, claim management tools).
- Ability to work on-site in the Greater Toronto Area and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Post-secondary education in business, logistics, insurance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.

Compensation: $70,000–$85,000 per year, negotiable based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.
