The ER Internship Program, or ENIP is an chance to acquire the knowledge and skills to transition into an ER setting.
We are seeking motivated, mature, self-directed professionals who are interested in growing in a dynamic team and making a difference.
Positions Details
- Location: St. Joseph’s Hospital - 3001 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Tampa, FL
- Status: Full Time
- Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Weekend requirement – every other weekend
- On Call: No
- Always in person
Internship Details
- 3 weeks of didactic and 8-16 weeks of preceptorship
- Guided clinical orientation to ensure up-to-date and comprehensive care knowledge
- Shift: Interns will gain experience on both day and night shift before being assigned a permanent shift
- Every other weekend requirement
- Commitment: This is an hours-based commitment required for the internship program specifically to the unit of hire beginning at the end of completed preceptorship hours
Requirements
- Active Florida or Compact RN License
- 6 months or more of licensed RN experience
- Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- EKG Script test will be provided at the start of the internship program; you are required to pass within 2 attempts. Failure to do so will result in being released from the internship program
Preferred
- ACLS certification with the American Heart Association
- 1-year or more of RN experience
- 1-year experience in an Acute Care setting

Responsibilities and Skills
- Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
- Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
- Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
- Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments
- Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
- Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
- Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
- High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
- Professional accountability and development
