Job Summary The Team Our Administrative Services team is a close-knit team of six who provide administrative support across the correctional centre. We work in a busy, ever-changing environment where teamwork, flexibility and a willingness to learn and support each other are essential.
The Role The Office Assistant provides confidential administrative, clerical and front-line reception support to the correctional centre, helping staff, visitors and internal departments receive timely and professional service. Working in a fast-paced team environment, this role supports the daily operations of the centre through a variety of administrative duties and may rotate into other administrative positions as needed. The position contributes to an inclusive and respectful workplace by providing responsive service, maintaining confidentiality and supporting positive interactions with people from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent (e.g. GED).
- A minimum of 2 years of recent (in the last 5 years) administrative support experience.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard business software.
- Experience dealing with confidential matters using sound judgement, tact, and diplomacy.
- Minimum of 50 words per minute (WPM) in keyboarding.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience providing direct administrative support to senior staff and/or management.
- Experience organizing and independently managing one’s own workload taking into consideration changing priorities, tight deadlines, volumes of work and available resources.
- Experience in the mentoring or training of staff.
- Experience working in a correctional workplace or within the justice system.
