We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator/Programmer (Woodworking) to join our production team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC woodworking machinery, strong programming skills, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Fusion 360 for design and toolpath generation. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, problem-solving, and precision to deliver high-quality wood components that meet design and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
- CNC Programming & Operation
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD.
- Set up and operate CNC woodworking machines (routers, mills, lathes, etc.).
- Select tools, feeds, and speeds appropriate for woodworking materials.
- Design & Toolpath Development
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to develop machining strategies.
- Generate accurate toolpaths and simulate machining processes to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with design teams to refine models for manufacturability.
- Production & Quality Control
- Monitor machining processes to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications.
- Inspect finished products using measuring tools (calipers, gauges, templates).
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining or programming issues.
- Maintenance & Safety
- Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure tools are in proper working condition.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Document processes, setups, and production data for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CNC Operator/Programmer in woodworking or related field.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Fusion 360.
- Knowledge of woodworking materials (MDF, hardwood, plywood, laminates, etc.) and cutting techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Experience in CAM programming, G-code generation, and CNC setup.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced workplace.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CNC routers and nesting software.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and process optimization.
- Understanding of finishing techniques (sanding, edging, polishing).
Education & Experience
- Diploma/Certificate in CNC Machining, Wood Technology, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
- 2–5 years of experience in CNC woodworking operations and programming.
