Communications Intern

Location: Catholic Education Centre - 80 Sheppard Avenue East

Pay Rate: $23/Hr (Exclusive of Statutory Holiday & Vacation Pay)

Internship Period of Employment: September 2026 to December 2026 (4 Months)

Hybrid- Minimum 40 hours/week

With a staff of 14,000, the TCDSB is a energetic school board and is seeking a Communications Intern for a (4) month contract within the Communications, Research & Policy department.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Reporting to and under the direction of the Supervisor, Issues and Media Relations, this position will have an opportunity to work on various projects and gain practical experience in providing support in the field of Communications.



The intern will support the department and work on various initiatives.

- Support drafting of communications plans, pitches, newsletters, social media content, remarks etc.
- Capture photos/videos at school and Board events
- Produce and edit social media videos
- Support with creating social media graphics using Canva
- Conduct research and draft briefing notes or promotional materials
- Help maintain and update website content
- Support with media monitoring
- Support community engagement projects, student voice initiatives, and special campaigns (e.g., Catholic Education Week, Mental Health Week).

REQUIREMENTS:

- Enrolled in a 3rd Year post-secondary program related to Communications, Social Media or related field
- Must be a Canadian resident or have Landed Immigration status, with a valid work permit approved through Immigration Canada
- Must have a valid social insurance number
- A valid G driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle are considered strong assets for this position for occasional travel

MENTORSHIP & SUPPORT:

- Pairing with experienced professionals during the first two weeks
- Regular check-ins with the Manager, Communications
- Access to learning resources and training materials
