In this vital role, you will represent Chief and Council by serving as a liaison for child welfare, ensuring that Mi’kmaw children's rights are upheld.
Your robust communication and mediation skills will facilitate relationships with families, welfare agencies, and community organizations, promoting cultural support and well-being. Leadership in navigating legal processes and resource access is key. Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the main contact for child welfare agencies
- Support families in understanding their legal rights
- Facilitate attendance at family meetings and case conferences
- Help families access vital community resources
- Work closely with Chief and Council and various stakeholders
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field preferred
- Strong advocacy and conflict resolution capabilities
- Experience with Indigenous issues and cultural understanding
- Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
