Facilitator – Deadly Dads Alberta First Nations Information Governance Centre (Alberta FNIGC) is a not-for-profit, First Nations-owned organisation. We promote, protect, and advance First Nations’ Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession (OCAP®) principles, the inherent right to self-determination, and jurisdiction in research and information management. Through our Community Wellness & Engagement initiatives, we walk alongside Nations to support culturally grounded programming that reflects community priorities and lived experience.

Based in Maskwacîs , the successful candidate will coordinate and facilitate the Deadly Dads program under the guidance of the Community Research Associate. This role supports Cree fathers and fathers-to-be through culturally safe, strengths-based programming that integrates Cree teachings, Elders’ guidance, and trauma-informed practice. Support men navigating life transitions such as new parenthood, reunification, relationship changes, or reconnecting with children

- Identify strengths, set goals, and connect participants to community resources when additional supports are needed
- Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and case consultations to ensure coordinated, wrap-around supports




- Represent the program in community spaces and work collaboratively with service providers and leadership. Respectful, culturally grounded, and committed to uplifting Cree men and families
- Skilled at building trust and maintaining appropriate skilled boundaries
- Knowledgeable about Cree teachings, community structures, and cultural protocols
- Adaptable and flexible, willing to work occasional evenings or weekends to align with community priorities
- A Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred) related to social sciences, project management or research
- A High School Diploma (post-secondary education in Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Human Services, Health Care or a related field is an asset);

Experience working with Indigenous men, fathers, families, or community-based programming

- Demonstrated knowledge of the Maskwacîs community context
- Familiarity with OCAP® principles and respect for data stewardship and confidentiality
- Cree language fluency or familiarity (considered a strong asset)
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and the ability to travel locally as required. Lived experience, community leadership, and strong cultural grounding may be considered in lieu of formal education where appropriate. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who self-identify as Indigenous in accordance with the Canadian Human Rights Commission Aboriginal Employment Preference Policy. #
