Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a Field Construction Coordinator for our Mining & Minerals gold mine construction project site located near Gogama, Ontario. Reporting to the Manager, Construction, the successful candidate will provide guidance and technical support to contractors and / or advise, monitor and supervise work in all phases within assigned area and discipline.

If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges within a quick-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you. This position is camp based, with a rotation of 14 days on, 14 days off (12 hours per day).

Responsibilities:

- Decide if queries from contractors require referral to engineering or if they can be resolved at site
- Resolve field issues not requiring referral to engineering
- Plan and supervise site survey control, including initial layouts and spot checks of construction
- Review JHA's and FLRA's prior to work commencing on a daily basis
- Plan and supervise all site QA/QC programs including material testing
- Assist the contractors with clarification, interpretation, interference resolution and QA/QC related matters
- Ensure instructions, drawings and specifications for scope changes are issued in a timely manner
- Assist in the management of the site safety program
- Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all environmental, health and safety policies
- Work with contractors to ensure project safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives are achieved
- Ensure construction conforms to the drawings and specifications and that consistent construction practices are followed in assigned areas and disciplines
- Assist the project team with reviews and estimates for contract extras and monitor the actual daily costs submitted by the contractors




- Monitor the three week look-ahead schedules submitted by the contractors and report deviations and activities not being met by the contractors to the construction manager
- Notify engineering in advance of any changes in the program or shortfalls in documentation and materials that could have an impact on the construction progress
- Submit daily progress reports to the site construction office outlining items of concern such as safety observations/directions, non-conformance with the specifications and drawings, equipment and weather delays, site cleanup, congestions, infrastructure, workmanship, quality control and potential contract extras
- Update the site-wide deficiency lists to be issued at weekly construction meetings

Skills / Qualifications

- Extensive experience at the site supervisory level with on the job responsibility for directing work crews
- 5 7 years of overseeing contractors on large mining projects
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
