About the Position
We are looking for candidates who thrive in a dynamic environment, are initiative-takers, and are comfortable working independently or as part of a team. Deetken will help you leverage your formal education, training, work experience, and curiosity to contribute to the important work our clients have entrusted us with.
Candidates for this position are expected to work in one of our offices (Vancouver or
Victoria) four days a week. This is a full-time internship position.
Qualifications
- Recently completed (or expected to be completed by April 2027 and available for a January to April 2027 internship) a master’s degree in analytical science (e.g., Economics, Statistics or Business Analytics), business (e.g. MBA, commerce), humanities (e.g. political science, public administration, sociology) among other relevant degrees. Exceptional candidates with a bachelor’s degree may be considered.
- Critical thinking skills with a proven ability to synthesize complex information quickly and identify key focus areas.
- Exceptional analytical (quantitative/qualitative) and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient working in Excel, PowerPoint and ideally, at least one analytical environment (e.g., R, Python, Stata, or SQL) to clean, analyze, and visualize data.
- Curiosity and initiative, with a solid focus on uncovering meaningful insights.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Adaptability to thrive under tight deadlines and evolving client needs.
- Relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust and collaborate effectively
- with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and synthesize findings.
- Conduct and synthesize quantitative and qualitative analyses.
- Support data collection, client interviews, and facilitated workshops.
- Prepare sections of reports and presentations.
- Work independently and as part of a team as required.
- Collaborate with the Deetken team to conduct projects and internal initiatives.
Compensation: $1,900 bi-weekly, inclusive of vacation pay
