Curriculum Specialist, Nursing Graduate Program Primary Purpose: The purpose of this position is to support the College of Nursing Graduate Programs’ Review.

Nature of Work: The Curriculum Specialist will work with the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies, the Graduate Chair, the Nurse Practitioner Program Academic Lead, and the members of the Graduate Programs Team.

The Curriculum

Specialist will report to the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies. Work closely with the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies, the Graduate Chair, the Nurse Practitioner Program Academic Lead, the members of the Graduate Programs Team, and the Graduate Curriculum Review Workgroup. Support the review of existing graduate courses and the development of new graduate courses while monitoring College of Graduate Studies and University Council deadlines.

Along with the members of the Graduate Team, support the Indigenization of the graduate programs. Work closely and consult with members of the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning Excellence. Keep detailed records on the revised graduate curriculum, monitor progress, and deliverables such as updated graduate pathways, update graduate courses, and current graduate courses.

In conjunction with the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies develop agenda items and actively participate in meetings with the Graduate Programs Team, the members of the Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Committee, and the Graduate Curriculum Review Workgroup.



Support graduate faculty members in updating or developing new graduate courses.

Education: A Master’s degree, preferably, a Master of Health Professions Education, a Master of Education with a strong interest in curriculum development, or a Master in Nursing with a curriculum development specialty or a specialization in nursing education.

Experience: Minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in a related field, preferably in a health profession or in health education.

Experience working closely with development teams creating new projects/curriculum development is a strong asset for this role. Knowledge of graduate nursing education represents another asset. Building and maintaining positive working relationships with faculty, staff, graduate students, and other stakeholders is foundational to the success of this project and integral to this role. Highly flexible and able to learn quickly in the moment.

Project and Workflow Management Skills: Ability to prioritize, take initiative and identify where to focus attention to keep all projects and/or curriculum and course development moving forward. See and make connections between and among projects.

Technical Skills: Excellent writing skills tailored to each communication method, purpose, and audience.



Proficiency in using online platforms for communication and for displaying information. Use continuous quality improvement approaches. Experienced in data analysis and reporting. If the incumbent is a Registered Nurse, a current registration with the CRNS is required.

Department: College of Nursing Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies Shift: Mon-Fri, 8:30-4:30 Full Time Equivalent (FTE): 1.0 The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
