About The Role
CrowdStrike is seeking a Principal Data Engineer with specialized expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI platform development to join our expanding Data Science Platform Engineering Team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced data infrastructure that powers our next-generation AI-driven security solutions.
Your responsibilities will include integrating LLMs, developing agentic workflows, and harnessing AI agents to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions at an exabyte scale. You will champion engineering excellence by writing high-quality, performant code, mentoring team members, and fostering best practices in data modeling, MLOps, and DataOps. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of AI-enabled cybersecurity products by working on large-scale distributed systems, deploying cutting-edge AI models, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to translate research into robust production services.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Data Engineering or Platform Engineering
- At least 3 years of experience architecting and building platforms for AI/ML or Data Science at massive scale
- Hands-on experience with LLM engineering, including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and deployment
- Proficiency in large-scale distributed systems, sharding, partitioning, and concurrency
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python or JVM technologies
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or OCI) and related data services
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of message queuing and streaming technologies such as Kafka or Pulsar
- Familiarity with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake or BigQuery and orchestration tools like Airflow or Kubeflow
- Experience with MLOps tools such as MLflow, Sagemaker, or Vertex AI
- Strong understanding of data modeling, semantic cataloging, and normalization for AI/ML workloads
- Proven leadership and mentorship skills, with prior experience in senior or principal engineering roles
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize data platforms and pipelines supporting LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and autonomous AI agents at exabyte scale
- Drive adoption of agentic workflows and techniques to develop autonomous, data-driven security features
- Develop scalable, fault-tolerant,
and cost-effective data solutions emphasizing rapid iteration and deployment
- Write elegant, production-ready code focusing on performance, maintainability, and rigorous testing
- Provide technical leadership in data modeling, normalization, and semantic cataloging for AI/ML workloads
- Establish best practices for MLOps/DataOps, including monitoring, observability, and recovery mechanisms for AI services
- Mentor engineers through technical workshops, design reviews, and knowledge sharing in AI platform technologies
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and engineering teams to convert prototypes into robust, scalable services
- Manage the entire lifecycle of critical data services—from development through deployment and monitoring
