The successful candidate will initially work with the Academics Department to support the setup and operational readiness of the dental laboratory at the Mississauga Campus. This will include identifying required dental equipment, instruments, supplies, software and technology; Following program approval and commencement, the position will transition primarily into a Lead Instructor role, with responsibility for delivering theoretical and practical instruction, supervising laboratory activities, demonstrating dental assisting procedures, assessing student competency, and maintaining appropriate instructional and laboratory standards.

Working

Hours- Mon to Fri 9am to 2pm Program and Dental Laboratory Setup ~ Work closely with the Academics Department to assist with establishing the Intra-Oral Dental Assistant Level I and Level II laboratory. ~ Review program requirements and identify dental equipment, instruments, materials, supplies, consumables, PPE and other resources required for practical training. ~ Assist with identifying and sourcing dental chairs, operatories, sterilization equipment, radiography equipment, dental instruments, clinical materials and related laboratory ~ Research appropriate dental equipment and supply vendors. suitability for instruction, functionality, safety and quality. ~ Assist with coordinating delivery, installation and organization of dental laboratory Support development and maintenance of laboratory equipment lists, supply inventories and Assist with determining appropriate quantities of consumable materials required for practical training. ~ Identify equipment maintenance, servicing, calibration or replacement requirements where Collaborate with Academics, Campus Management, vendors and other College departments Dental Software and Technology Responsibilities Demonstrate strong knowledge of dental practice management software and digital dental technologies used within the program. Have practical knowledge of ABELDent dental practice management software. Have practical knowledge of DEXIS Titanium digital imaging technology.

Have practical knowledge of Carestream RVG digital radiography technology. Assist with the setup and instructional readiness of dental software and digital imaging systems used within the program. Demonstrate the appropriate use of dental software and digital imaging technology during instructional and laboratory activities.





Support students in developing familiarity with the dental software and technologies identified within the approved program curriculum. Follow appropriate procedures for handling, operation and maintenance of digital dental equipment used for instructional purposes. Assist with identifying technical or operational issues involving dental software and equipment and communicate these concerns to the appropriate College department or vendor.

Deliver theoretical and practical instruction for the Intra-Oral Dental Assistant Level I and Explain dental assisting concepts, terminology, procedures and professional practices clearly Demonstrate dental assisting procedures and techniques using appropriate instruments, materials, equipment and technology. Provide hands-on instruction and supervision during dental laboratory activities. techniques. Assist students in connecting theoretical knowledge with practical dental assisting expected in a dental setting.

Demonstrate and reinforce appropriate infection prevention and control practices within the dental laboratory. ~ Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for hand hygiene, PPE, cleaning, disinfection Demonstrate safe handling, processing and storage of dental instruments and clinical materials. ~ Reinforce appropriate handling and use of dental equipment, instruments and radiography Student Assessment and Academic Responsibilities Provide students with clear and constructive feedback regarding their academic and practical performance. Identify students requiring additional academic or practical support and provide appropriate Communicate student performance or academic concerns to the appropriate College Ensure assessments are conducted consistently and in accordance with College academic policies. ~ Maintain confidentiality of student academic information and assessment materials. Provide subject-matter expertise regarding Intra-Oral Dental Assisting Level I and Level II.

Relevant occupational experience working as a Dental Assistant in a clinical dental setting. Previous teaching, clinical instruction, preceptorship, mentoring or supervisory experience is considered an asset.

Experience as a senior, lead or Level II Dental Assistant is considered a strong asset.

Required Technical

Knowledge and Skills ~ Strong knowledge of Intra-Oral Dental Assisting Level I and Level II procedures and Strong knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, equipment and clinical materials. Strong understanding of chairside dental assisting procedures. Knowledge of dental laboratory and clinical operative setup and organization.

Knowledge of sterilization, disinfection, infection prevention and control practices. Experience training, supervising, mentoring or precepting Dental Assistants or Dental Experience participating in the setup or organization of a dental clinic, operatory or educational dental laboratory.

Experience sourcing dental equipment, instruments, materials or supplies.

Experience communicating or negotiating with dental suppliers and equipment vendors.

Experience managing dental inventories, sterilization areas, equipment or clinical supplies.

Experience delivering practical demonstrations or competency-based skills training. Dental assisting subject-matter expertise. Student coaching and assessment. Dental laboratory setup and organization.
