Reporting to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, the Diagnostic Imaging Assistant (Assistant) supports the delivery of safe, efficient, and high‑quality diagnostic imaging services by providing essential patient registration, clerical, and technical assistance. This role is responsible for facilitating patient flow, assisting with direct patient care, accurately entering and managing diagnostic data within Meditech, and supporting diagnostic services across the Qikiqtaaluk region.

The Diagnostic Imaging

Assistant performs electrocardiograms (ECGs) and Holter monitor procedures, digitizes X‑ray images from remote communities, and ensures timely, accurate documentation to support clinical decision‑making and continuity of care.

The Diagnostic Imaging Assistant is also responsible for:

- Utilizing the Meditech electronic health record for patient lookup, verification, and data entry;
- Contacting patients to schedule, confirm, and communicate diagnostic imaging appointment dates and times;
- Providing patients with information regarding diagnostic imaging examinations, including preparation instructions required prior to their appointment;
- Distributing Diagnostic Imaging reports to physicians and community health centres in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner;
- Performing general clerical and administrative duties related to Diagnostic Imaging operations, including filing, scanning, and record maintenance;
- Maintaining a positive, professional, and patient‑centred demeanour in stressful or challenging situations;




- Ensuring the confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, policies, and procedures.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Experience in a healthcare, clinical, clerical, or customer‑service environment, preferably within a hospital or diagnostic setting;
- Computer competency with demonstrated experience using electronic databases, scheduling systems, and office software applications;
- Willingness and ability to complete training for ECGs and Holter monitor hook‑ups is also required;
- The ability to work shifts and schedules as required by operational needs.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required. The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural workplace are also considered assets.
