Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Nurse is a part of an interdisciplinary care team, providing holistic, comprehensive evidenced-based care to meet the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. The DI Nurse is responsible for providing care to both pediatric and adult patients undergoing imaging (fluoroscopy, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and/or MRI) or interventional radiology procedures in both acute care and outpatient settings.

The DI nurse contacts patients/families (and/or inpatient unit/care teams) in advance of appointments with preparation instructions and education on pre- and post- sedation guidelines. The DI Nurse liases with internal partners to support coordination of patient care.



The DI nurse acts as a resource to patients and families, and other healthcare providers, as well as the Diagnostic Imaging teams throughout the care continuum.

Varying shifts; 37.5 hours bi-weekly Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Program. Registered, or eligible to be registered, with the Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwife Regulator (NSNMR). Minimum three (3) years nursing experience required, preferably Emergency, perianaesthesia and/or ICU nursing.

Experience in pediatrics preferred. Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support Level (BLS) Program within the last 12 months, or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate, required. PALS, ACLS and Collaborative Advanced Management of Airway for Nurses (CAMAN) are assets.
