This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Donor Care Specialist based in Canada.
This is a mission-driven, remote opportunity focused on delivering an exceptional experience to donors while supporting fundraising efforts that benefit vulnerable communities.
You will serve as a key point of contact for donors, responding to questions, resolving issues, processing contributions, and explaining the impact of charitable programs.
The role combines high-volume customer service, fundraising, data management, and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
You will communicate with donors through phone, email, live chat, and text while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
Success requires strong organization, attention to detail, resilience, and the ability to consistently meet service and fundraising targets.
You will also collaborate with internal teams and participate in ongoing training to strengthen your knowledge and communication skills.

Accountabilities
- Donor Support: Respond promptly and professionally to inbound and outbound donor inquiries through phone, email, live chat, and text, resolving questions and concerns while delivering a high-quality donor experience.
- Fundraising: Conduct scripted fundraising and welcome calls, including 100–120+ calls per day during peak periods, while working toward individual and departmental fundraising targets.
- Program Knowledge: Develop a strong understanding of available programs, services, campaigns, and events and clearly explain how donor contributions create impact.
- Donation Processing: Process donations securely, accurately, ethically, and confidentially while following established procedures for monetary transactions.
- Donor Relationship Management: Build positive relationships with donors, listen carefully to their needs, address issues effectively, and provide helpful information that supports continued engagement.
- Systems & Data: Navigate donor-management platforms and other information systems, maintain accurate records, update data, and use digital tools to support efficient service delivery.
- Administrative Support: Assist with data-related and administrative activities and provide support to other departments as required.
- KPI Management: Consistently work toward individual service, fundraising, and performance KPIs while contributing to broader departmental objectives.
- Compliance & Procedures: Follow departmental policies, standards of practice, confidentiality requirements,
and established processes consistently.
- Training & Development: Participate in ongoing training, workshops, and learning activities to improve communication skills, product knowledge, fundraising effectiveness, and service quality.
Requirements
- Eligibility: Must be at least 18 years old, legally eligible to work in Canada, and able to successfully complete a criminal background check.
- Education: Post-secondary education or completion of a relevant certification is required.
- Customer Service Experience: 2–5 years of experience in a call centre, customer service, donor care, sales, fundraising, or a comparable high-volume environment.
- High-Volume Communication: Comfortable handling 100+ inbound and outbound calls per day, including scripted fundraising and welcome calls, as well as high volumes of emails, live chats, and text messages.
- Fundraising & Sales: Previous experience in fundraising, sales, donor engagement, or nonprofit environments is an asset.
- Religious & Cultural Knowledge: Familiarity with Islamic practices such as Zakat and key religious periods and events, including Ramadan and Dhul Hijjah, is important.
- Data Skills: Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets, including tools such as VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables, with the ability to interpret and analyze data.
- Digital Tools: Familiarity with platforms such as Google Workspace, Asana, CRM systems, Slack, Stripe, and live-chat software is an advantage.
- Transaction Handling: Experience processing financial or monetary transactions with discretion, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong listening abilities and the capacity to explain information clearly and empathetically.
- Problem Solving: Resourceful and solutions-oriented, with a positive attitude toward new challenges and the ability to resolve donor concerns effectively.
- Organization: Highly organized, efficient, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Teamwork: Comfortable collaborating across departments and confidently engaging with donors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Remote Work Readiness: Must have a dedicated, quiet, private home office with a door, a USB headset with microphone, a recent Windows PC or Mac, a second monitor, and a secure high-speed internet connection.
Satellite internet is not compatible.
- Work Schedule: Able to work a consistent weekly schedule of approximately 35 hours for full-time employment or 20–25 hours for part-time employment, with potential weekend shifts during peak fundraising periods.
