Role Description The Driller is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON, responsible for executing drilling operations for shoring and deep foundation projects. Day-to-day tasks include operating and maintaining drilling rigs and heavy equipment, setting up work sites, and performing drilling activities according to project specifications and safety standards. The Driller will interpret drilling plans, coordinate with site supervisors and engineers, monitor ground conditions, and adjust drilling methods as needed.
The role includes conducting routine inspections on equipment, documenting drilling progress,
and assisting with installation of piles, anchors, and related geostructural components. The Driller will follow all health and safety regulations, participate in toolbox meetings, and support a secure, efficient work environment.
Qualifications
- Ability to operate and work safely with heavy equipment and drilling rigs in construction environments.
- Hands-on experience with drilling operations, including deep foundation or geostructural drilling; directional drilling experience considered an asset.
- Competence in inspection of drilling equipment, tools, and work areas to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Experience in oil & gas or related drilling industries is beneficial, especially with subsurface conditions and drilling best practices.
- Knowledge of construction site safety standards and regulations; valid safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Working at Heights) preferred.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, drilling plans, and written instructions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capacity to work in varying weather and ground conditions.
- Reliable transportation to Toronto, ON job sites and willingness to work flexible hours as project needs require.
- Previous experience as a driller or assistant driller in construction, foundation, or geotechnical projects is an asset.
