Division (PSD) is a large progressive school jurisdiction serving Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Fort Chipewyan, and Parkland County. PSD meets the diverse educational needs of over 12,000 rural and urban students across 23 sites, including outreach schools and alternative education programs.
The Parkland School
Division currently has a Full-time Education Assistant (Certified/Non-Certified) position available at Spruce Grove Composite High School in Spruce Grove, Alberta. This position will support students in the K&E; Program as well as regular classroom support. The successful candidate will provide dedicated one-to-one and small-group support to high school students with complex learning, developmental, or behavioral needs.
In this role, you will help students navigate coursework to meet core curriculum expectations across all subjects, implement individualized support plans, and actively participate alongside students during Physical Education and school activities. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills are required,
as is a strong ability to foster positive relationships, collaborate effectively with school staff, and build trusting rapport with high school youth. Work under the supervision of one teacher or several different teachers Work with a particular special needs student or a group of students within a class or in a special program Perform clerical tasks in the classroom or school Under the direction of the teacher, the EA assists the student in acquiring the education and skills necessary for advancement in the educational setting.
To reach this objective, the EA follows an individually prescribed learning program through team planning and working one-on-one with the student(s). This involves routine recording, basic charting, and logging of observations on anecdotal record sheets or data sheets. EA Certified/Non Certified does provide personal care to students.
Help with organizing notebooks, timetables, agendas, and lockers. Assist in the implementation of Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals and adaptive devices. Assist students with computer access. Provide support to students utilizing various educational software packages.
Providing assistance to communicate with peers and adults in the school (e.g., American Sign Language, assistive tech.
