Division Schools We are looking to hire a temporary 28.0 hour per week Education Assistant to support our Division schools. This position is covered by the CUPE 1825 Support Staff collective agreement. Under the direction of the Division English as an Additional Language Coordinator, and in collaboration with the Inclusive Education Liaison, the classroom teacher, and the principal, the successful candidate will support programming for children who are learning English as an additional language.

An understanding of cultural perspectives and the newcomer to Canada experience would be an asset. The ability to speak multiple languages would also be an asset.

Education Education Assistant Certificate and/or Diploma or Rehabilitation Practitioner Certificate and/or Diploma or equivalent





- Work Experience ~ At least one-year experience working with students with special programming needs.

Aid training

- Knowing ASL is considered an asset
- Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments Training (SIVA) Certificate
- Training and experience with augmentative communication systems;

Experience working on academic goals with students who have multiple barriers. Understands that it is of paramount importance to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of the school community

- Willing to participate in recent learning opportunities
- The starting rate for this position is $25.26 per hour.
