EDUCATION ASSISTANT – St.

Francis Junior High School

We are looking to hire a continuous 28.0 hour per week Education Assistant at St.

Francis Junior High

School in Lethbridge.

The Education

Assistant provides support to children with a wide range of needs in the learning environment under the direction and supervision of the Inclusive Education Lead, the classroom teacher, and the principal. This role may involve working with students who have complex sensory needs, exhibit challenging behaviours, use augmented and alternative communication systems, and may require assistance with toileting and other personal care tasks. Through collaborative team-based structure, the Education Assistant will carry out tasks as assigned by both the daily and program supervisors.

EDUCATION Education Assistant Certificate and/or Diploma or Rehabilitation Practitioner Certificate and/or Diploma or equivalent





- WORK EXPERIENCE ~ At least one-year experience working with students with special programming needs.

First

Aid training

- Knowing ASL is considered an asset
- Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments Training (SIVA) Certificate
- Training and experience with augmentative communication systems;

Experience working on academic goals with students who have multiple barriers. Understands that it is of paramount importance to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of the school community

- Willing to participate in recent learning opportunities
- The starting rate for this position is $25.26 per hour.
