Contract Type: Term; 1.00 FTE Full Time (approximately 15 hours per week)

- Monday to Thursday: 8:15 AM to 3:25 PM*
- Fridays: 8:15 AM to 11:50 AM (Staff will be required to stay longer when training is being held)*

*working hours could change based on bell times.

Duration of Position: September 17, 2026 - December 18, 2026

ABOUT THE POSITION: Eastbrook Elementary is seeking applications for a Mainstream Educational Assistant (EA) to support elementary students in their learning, development, and preparation for success in the grades ahead.

This is a full-time, term position beginning September 17th and ending on December 18, 2026.

Everything we do in Grasslands supports student learning and achievement and this position requires an applicant who works well under pressure and in energetic environments while upholding the values of the division. This role requires patience, kindness, and resiliency, and an understanding of the importance of this role for our students, colleagues, and community.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL: Eastbrook Elementary School is a dynamic and diverse elementary school serving our local communities and families. Our mosaic of families from around the world and those that have called Brooks and Alberta home for generations reflects the multicultural makeup of Canada. Our diversity will help prepare our students to be Global Citizens. We pride ourselves in offering engaging learning opportunities in various programs that challenge our students and encourage them to exceed their own expectations. Our staff and service providers deliver interventions and support to ensure the greatest opportunity for success for all students. We currently serve approximately 465 students from PreKindergarten to Grade 6.

We offer a comprehensive PUF program for 3 & 4-year-olds, an Early English Language Learners program for qualifying 4-year-olds, an English Language Learner program for students arriving with little or no English language skills, and an engaging learning program for Grades Kindergarten to Grade 6. We pride ourselves on our Student Support Services, who collaborate with teachers, families, community services and Grasslands Division Student Support Services to ensure we meet all our learners' needs.

Job Duties:

- support students with instruction and learning activities, as well as their physical, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- encourage positive and respectful interactions between students and staff;
- work closely and collaboratively with classroom teachers , school administration, and other members of the school team.
- Provide appropriate physical support and personal care, including lifting and transferring students, as required.
- Support students in participating in school activities , which may include swimming, outdoor sports, and other school-based activities.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where students can succeed.





Ideal candidates skills & abilities:

- Strong written, verbal, and reading communication skills.
- The ability to support students across subject areas appropriate to their grade level .
- The ability to support students with literacy and numeracy development .
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills .
- A genuine interest in working with elementary-aged students, including Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students.
- An understanding and appreciation of the mission and values of Grasslands Public Schools .
- The ability to contribute to a student-centred classroom and social environment that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Respect for and sensitivity toward individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- An understanding of the important role Educational Assistants play in supporting students, families, and the broader community.
- Personal integrity, trustworthiness, and the ability to establish positive relationships and rapport with students and coworkers.
- Patience, flexibility, resilience, and the ability to remain calm and supportive in a busy school setting.
- Understands and supports Grasslands Public Schools’ mission, values, and commitment to student success.

Education and Certifications:

- High school diploma.
- Experience working with children or other vulnerable populations in an educational, healthcare, or related setting.

Considered an asset but not a requirement:

- Post-secondary training in education, Educational Assistant, child development, or a related field
- Two or more years of experience working with children or in an education setting.

*A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

- A Current Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
- The original document is required to be submitted, and reported within the last 6 months of hire date.

Applicants cannot work before a clear CRC with VSC has been provided and cleared by the Superintendent.
