We at Actalent Services are a fast-growing engineering consulting group which expanded to Canada in 2014. A significant part of that growth has come out of our Western Canadian Operations focused on Infrastructure and Utilities projects. To support this growth, we have opened a full-time position for a Distribution Engineer-In-Training (Electrical EIT) to join our team on a full time basis.

Key activities include liaising with project stakeholders, completing project designs and performing quality assurance functions. The selected individual will join our rapidly growing team delivering projects to a variety of utility clients with a focus on electrical utility infrastructure. Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.

Registered, or eligible to register with EGBC as an EIT Zero (0) to four (4) years design experience, Co-op or postgrad, of Overhead (OH) or Underground (UG) utility distribution and/or telecom infrastructure Proficient using MS Office and AutoCAD software Considered an asset Experience in design of BC Hydro Underground (UG) and/or Overhead (OH) power distribution systems is considered an asset Experience using SPIDAcalc, PLS-CADD, DAD and/or Passport Design overhead electrical infrastructure according to client and national standards and requirements. There would also be some underground design as well, however, overhead would be the majority of the work initially. Use SPIDAcalc non-linear pole line analysis tool to evaluate pole design and create non-standard OH Line design solutions.

Use of underground cable pulling calculation software to confirm design solutions, such as pull planner. Use load balancing and fuse coordination software for distribution system improvement projects. Packages to be provided for Pole Replacement/Maintenance, LPT/PMT/Livefront, Feeder Design, Smart Meter, Customer Driven 3rd Party Attachments, Automation and other BC Hydro Programs.
