Role Description The Employment Counsellor is a full-time, on-site role located in Winnipeg, MB. This position provides one-on-one and group employment support to community members, including assessing needs, setting goals, and developing individualized employment plans. Daily tasks include delivering job coaching, teaching job search strategies, supporting resume and cover letter development, and preparing individuals for interviews.
The Employment
Counsellor conducts ongoing case management, maintains accurate records, and coordinates with other service providers and employers to connect participants with training and job opportunities. The role also involves accompaniment and advocacy,
helping participants navigate barriers to employment and access community resources.
Qualifications
- Solid employment support skills, including Job Coaching and Job Search Strategies.
- Expertise in Career Counseling and Case Management to guide participants through individualized employment plans.
- Ability to provide Accompaniment and advocacy, supporting participants in accessing services and opportunities.
- Relevant post-secondary education in social work, counseling, human services, career development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals facing social, economic, or employment barriers.
- Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining confidential client records and reporting outcomes.
- Knowledge of local labor market, community resources, and employer networks in Winnipeg and surrounding areas.
- Proficiency with common office software and digital tools used for case management and employment search support.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a community-based team and demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect.
