About the Role

Our client, a renowned film organization in Kimberley , is seeking an organized and passionate Film Festival Programmer Assistant to support the curation and execution of their annual film festival. This hybrid role involves both remote work for film review and analysis, and in-office responsibilities for logistical coordination. You will assist the programming team in identifying, evaluating, and selecting films from submissions, as well as helping with festival logistics, guest management, and operational support. The ideal candidate has a deep appreciation for cinema, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a deadline-driven environment, contributing to the cultural enrichment of Kimberley .

Key Responsibilities

- Screen and evaluate submitted films based on artistic merit, thematic relevance, and festival criteria.
- Assist in compiling program notes, synopses, and filmmaker biographies for festival catalogs and website.
- Coordinate logistics for invited filmmakers, including travel, accommodation, and scheduling.
- Provide administrative support to the programming team,



including managing submission databases and communications.
- Assist with in office festival operations, including venue support and attendee assistance.

Requirements

- Demonstrable passion for film and a strong understanding of diverse cinematic genres and global filmmaking.
- Prior experience in film programming, festival organization, or film criticism is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work setting, managing tasks effectively.
