We are hiring a Technical Accountant in Toronto who will be responsible for the reinsurance and primary technical accounting business including booking and analyzing data for casualty, property, and other lines of business.
Key Accountabilities Technical Accounting Tasks: Review policy documents, analyze data and investigate discrepancies in order to clear aged accounts receivables/payables. Review, reconcile and post clients’ premiums, claims and commissions bordereaux for Managing General Agents, Brokers and Clients. Review and rebook technical items and claims for settlement within specified time frame.
Responsible for setting up new and renewed treaties in technical accounting systems and quality assurance against contract wordings. Monitor the plausibility of forecasts and update prognosis and estimates collectively with underwriters Prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliation reports and other ad hoc reports Ensure any assigned system interfaces are reconciled and of high quality Develop effective relationships with Underwriting and Claims personnel for continuous collaboration Collaborate and support all areas of Technical Accounting on an ongoing basis Prepare reports and analysis as needed Support both Internal and External audit requests Document all material processes and risks within delegated area and review regularly Seek ways to continually improve local process effectiveness/efficiency General accounting courses or college diploma required Ongoing upgrading of PC Skills and Accounting knowledge Knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications ~2 years of accounting experience ~ Working knowledge of SAP desired Proficiency in Excel ~ Re)Insurance accounting experience and understanding of contract wordings Exposure to challenging projects and development opportunities to grow your skills and career with both local and global colleagues and partners are available. [email protected] base salary range for this role is between $59,000 and $77,000 per year, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to internal equity.
This role is located in our Toronto office on 390 Bay St, and we operate in a hybrid work model.
