Company Description Altevere is an all-female fractional CxO advisory company for SMEs. The company provides flexible access to CEO, CFO, CPO, and COO expertise, allowing clients to engage a single executive or a full bench through one accountable point of contact.
Executives are embedded into client businesses for a limited number of days per month, delivering strategic impact at a fraction of traditional costs. Based in Ottawa, Altevere has solid roots across Ontario, and Atlantic Canada, and is actively expanding into underserved markets across the country.
Role Description The Fractional CFO is a contract, remote role responsible for providing strategic financial leadership to multiple SME clients. Day-to-day work includes developing and overseeing financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processes, as well as monitoring cash flow and working capital. The Fractional CFO will design and refine financial controls, reporting frameworks, and KPI dashboards to support executive decision-making and business growth.
This role also involves collaborating with our CEOs and other leaders on capital structure, funding strategies, risk management, and long-term financial roadmaps. The Fractional CFO will serve as a trusted advisor, presenting clear financial insights,
guiding operational improvements, and aligning financial strategies with each client’s business objectives.
Qualifications
- Strong financial management and analysis skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and performance measurement.
- Expertise in strategic finance, such as capital planning, funding strategies, financial modeling, and long-term business planning.
- Experience in developing and improving financial processes, internal controls, reporting frameworks, and KPI dashboards.
- Proven ability to advise and collaborate with senior leadership, communicate complex financial information clearly, and influence decision-making.
- Background working with SMEs or growth-stage companies, preferably in a fractional, consulting, or multi-client environment.
- Robust proficiency with financial and accounting software, spreadsheets, and data visualization tools.
- Professional accounting or finance designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, CA, CMA) or equivalent experience is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or similar) is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed setting, manage multiple client engagements, and adapt to varying industry contexts.
