- CAD $56.17/Hr. Come work as an Occupational Therapist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at City Square in Vancouver, BC. Within the context of a patient/client and family-centered framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of qualified practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, the Occupational Therapist plans, delivers, evaluates and provides care coordination to address the needs of the clients and families experiencing functional impairment and acute/chronic disease within community, ambulatory and/or institutional settings. Collaborates with family members or significant others, interdisciplinary team members, educational resources and other healthcare professionals and/or providers to address the client’s functional/physical/occupational needs and social/cognitive/perceptual/environmental needs, to maximize capabilities, community participation and recovery from or adaptation to illness/impairment to achieve excellence in health services and education. Contributes to the organization and delivery of occupational services by participating in program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research and education. Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes. Basic knowledge of occupational therapy standardized tests and measures. Broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care. Broad knowledge of other healthcare disciplines and their role in client care.
Demonstrated ability to teach and empower clients to assume control over their health. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with co-workers and clients both one-on-one and in groups. Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex health care environment. Demonstrated ability to recognize when referral to another health care professional is required. Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety. Skill in the use of equipment, and in the techniques appropriate to occupational therapy treatment. Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. New hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
