New or Replacement role: Site: Princess Margaret Hospital Department: Genetics Program Reports to: Manager, Genetics Program Salary:Salary: $25.11 - $31.39 per hour Shifts: Weekdays, 8:30am - 4:30pm Permanent Full Time As an integral member of the inter‑professional team, the Genetic Counsellor Assistant (GCA) supports the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred genetic services in accordance with established standards, policies, and evidence‑based practices. The UHN Genetics Program provides genetic assessment, counselling, and testing services to individuals and families with, or at risk for, inherited conditions.

The Genetic Counsellor





Assistant will work closely with genetic counsellors embedded within specialty clinical programs to support patient care, facilitate coordination of genetic services, and contribute to the efficient management of clinical workflows. Coordinate patient scheduling, appointment logistics, and clinic activities in support of genetic counsellor clinics. Obtain, organize, and summarize relevant medical and family history information from a variety of sources.

Contact patients, families, healthcare providers, and laboratories to obtain additional information, as required. Track genetic testing, laboratory results, and Ministry of Health funding applications. Maintain clinical databases and perform data entry and data quality activities.

BSc in Biology or Genetics or in a health care field Knowledge of genetics principles and theory Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Previous related experience in a clinical genetics setting is an asset Excellent computer skills Government organization and a member of the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP A versatile work environment Additional perks (multiple corporate discounts including: travel, restaurants, parking, phone plans, auto insurance discounts, on‑site gyms, etc.) At University Health Network (UHN), artificial intelligence technologies may be used to assist in the screening, assessment, and selection of candidates for this position.
