As a WHS Advisor, you will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate occupational health and safety programs and processes. You will provide subject matter expertise, and provide best practice recommendations, guidance, and resources that support organizational and legislative requirements. Description:

As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will provide expertise, advice, and guidance on matters of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS). You will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate occupational health and safety programs within an assigned portfolio; assess needs, interpret complex requirements, and recommend effective solutions across various WHS topics; and will support continuous improvement by promoting risk assessment, hazard identification and management, reporting, corrective action, system analysis, and adherence to standards, policies, and safe work practices.



You will be required to develop new resources and review and update educational materials, as well as help coordinate and deliver education, and conduct or support onsite duties such as inspections, respirator fit testing, incident, or investigations. As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will collect, analyze, and interpret safety data to identify trends and improvement opportunities, including reviewing and assisting with the development of WHS reporting tools. In this role, you will develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external partners such as such as WHS committees, academic institutions, Government of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety, contracted service providers, and clinical staff to improve WHS outcomes.

Required Qualifications:



Completion of a degree/diploma/certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways: Completion of a recognized Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) certificate with a minimum of 3 years of health and safety experience

• OR An OHS diploma with a minimum of 2 years of health and safety related experience

• OR A related degree (kinesiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, occupational hygiene, industrial hygiene, or environmental health) with a minimum of 2 years of health and safety related experience

• OR A Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) designation, with relevant occupational health and safety education and experience. Demonstrated knowledge of OHS principles, legislation, and best practices is required.

Experience in healthcare and/or a large, complex, unionized environment is preferred. Candidates must have experience with ergonomic assessments, fit-testing, Joint Workplace Health &

• Safety Committees, incident investigations, corrective actions, and occupational exposure or hygiene assessments involving chemical, physical, or biological hazards. Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills are essential, including the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data. Candidates must collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, prepare or contribute to technical or occupational hygiene reports, and deliver training or facilitate workshops.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in a large healthcare or government organization, particularly of significant size, diversity, and complexity.
